Lithotripsy (Stone Center)

Urinary Stone Treatment without Surgery

Extracorporeal Shock-Wave Lithotripsy or ESWL is the therapy of choice for most small to moderate-sized stones. This non-invasive procedure uses a machine called Lithotripter. The Urologist localizes the Kidney stone using X-ray and focuses the shockwaves directly to the stone. The stones are broken into small fragments and then passed out with the urine. The machine is very precise and causes almost no damage to the surrounding organs. The procedure usually lasts about an hour and performed on an out-patient basis.

Lipa Medix Medical Center acquired the state-of-the-art Dornier Lithotripsy machine from Germany and established the Southern Luzon Stone Center. The Center is the first and only medical facility in the whole South Luzon Area that provides advanced Urologic procedure.
