Nuclear Medicine Trends Discussed

Last February 12, 2014, the LMMC’s Medical Staff Organization (MSO) held its first meeting for the year in line with its newly opened Nuclear Medicine services.  Two guest speakers from Germany graced the event, Dr. Manfred Fischer and Dr. Thomas Rosner.

Dr. Fischer, from Kassel, Germany, talked about the New Trends in Nuclear Medicine, with emphasis on its aims, diagnostic procedures, and treatment.  With recent technology developments, nuclear medicine’s hybrid imaging gained importance in the clinical and research arenas.

Dr. Rosner, on the other hand, discussed the topic “Fully Automatic Reconstruction and Processing of Myocardial Perfusion SPECT Studies.”  SPECT or the Single-Photon Emission Computerized Tomography is a type of nuclear imaging test that lets the doctor analyze the function of some of the patient’s internal organs.
